Brahmi is mainly found in warmer and humid conditions. The whole herb, including the seeds, roots, leaves, and rhizomes, are used to prepare various drugs.

Brahmi, also known as Bacopa monnieri, is a creeping herb that is native to India. It has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for centuries.

Here are some characteristics of the brahmi plant: 

  • Size: Can grow up to 6 inches in height
  • Leaves: Small, oval-shaped, light green, and succulent
  • Branches: Numerous, horizontal, and creeping
  • Roots: Thin and fibrous, light brown in color
  • Temperature: Can grow in a wide range of temperatures (15–40 °C)
  • Soil pH: Can grow in a wide range of soil pH (5–7.5)

Brahmi has been used to enhance memory and other positive mental faculties in both normal and mentally retarded children.

Brahmi can be used for hair in a few ways: 

  • Brahmi powder

Mix equal parts of brahmi powder with amla, shikakai, and reetha powder. Add water to make a thick paste. Apply to wet hair and leave on for at least an hour. For best results, use regularly as a herbal shampoo.

  • Brahmi oil

Warm the oil slightly and apply to your scalp and hair. Massage in gently for a few minutes. Leave on for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

  • Brahmi essential oil

Add a few drops of brahmi essential oil to bath water. Soak your hair in the water for a few minutes. You can also massage your scalp with the oil for 10 minutes before sleeping.
